Let me preface this by saying I have a Facebook, a Myspace account (if that still exists), and I’m listed in a band on a Facebook so finding myself was very difficult.
When searching for myself, I used Google, Bing, Yahoo, and AltaVista (which ended up taking me back to Yahoo). I also tried both my full name and my nickname. Anyway, the only search engine that turned up any information about me was BIng http://www.bing.com/search?q=mitch+black&go=&qs=n&form=QBRE&pq=mitch+black&sc=8-11&sp=-1&sk= which showed my Facebook as the first returned result. Everything else I went through 10 or 12 pages trying to find something and couldn’t.
I’m not really shocked by this. I know I’m not on the Internet, I’ve never had a desire for a Twitter or an Instagram so I didn’t expect to find much of me on the Internet. I’ve never really put anything out there or posted on any sites, I’ve basically stayed relatively off the grid and this activity has proven that to me. Nothing really scared me obviously. Though, I guess it’s a little surprising to see all the Mitch Blacks in the world, and all the words associated with my name, like “MitchellandBlack”. I guess it would have been cooler if I had, had more information about myself out there and been able to find something besides my Facebook.
